To start with, here are a couple maps of the central battle area. I will try to follow with details once I have a moment.

Very nice maps! Would you also have the next one to the east of the above?

best regards,

Hi everyone,
I am looking for info on the Finnish attack towards the Karhumaki position in the Continuation War. Especially the 1st Jaeger Brigade's attack that breached the line. Any info on units, events etc will help.
Thanks in advance
Ozgur

Greetings!

First of all - great site for anyone interested in Finnish history! Smiley

I have a question for the Administrator, or anyone else who is able to help me out for that matter.

I am an American college student and I am doing a report on the incident at Viipuri in Fall 1941, where the Finnish played the Säkkijärven Polkka on the radio to drain the batteries of radio-controlled mines planted by Russians in the area.

I have a few sources that I have located on the web in addition to a few books in Finnish my girlfriend in Finland translated for me.
However I am still desperately short of information.

I am looking for some information on the whole incident, preferably in some detail, but I will take all that I can get.
Also, anything related to the Finnish engineers' mine sweeping and disarmament techniques during the Winter War and the Continuation War would be useful.

Are there any sources on the web, or any books that can be helpful to me in doing this research?
Anything that can be recommended?

I have looked long and hard and information on the web and everywhere else (at least here in America) is somewhat sparse, so I would greatly appreciate any help!

Thanks in advance, and keep up the good work Smiley

Cheers,
Manol

I am not able to answer this conclusively, but during Continuation War such ammo did exist. I'd like to point you to the following pages on jaegerplatoon.net:

http://www.jaegerplatoon.net/MORTARS4.htm#AMMO

http://www.jaegerplatoon.net/MORTARS6.htm#120Krh40AMMO

and

For mortars in the Finnish Army in WWII.
